about monocloncal antibodies

here is what I know about antibodies – and it is not much….
with this treatment they give the patient an antibody that will bind with the cancer cell. By doing this it helps your own body recognize the cancer as an invader so that your body’s own immune system will kill the cancer. At MSKCC they still use an antibody derived from a mouse. The COG antibody is a chimerac antibody as it has been humanize. The FDA will not approve the use of nonhuman antibodies. According to MSKCC antibodies are good at killing soft tissue NB, but not the hard tumors. So if the COG antibody acts like the MSKCC antibody, the Elizabeth is a good candidate for this being effective. We shall see…..
